How the Semester Flies by

I’ve been swamped with projects and exams lately so you’ll have to forgive me for my lack of posting. I didn’t think it had been that long since my last post, but then I realized that it was April already… oh my.

Anyway, I’ve got a geology exam tomorrow. I’ve made up a bunch of flashcards with material that is likely to be on the exam so I’m hoping for a good, solid A. (Did I mention that I got an 96% on my last psychology exam? Hooray!)

On a side note, I’d like to mention that I have several brush sets that are almost ready to be put up. I just have to make the image packs for those without Photoshop, and they shall be ready for the taking. I know, I know, I also need to convert them over for PhotoFiltre but those take a bit longer to make, not to mention the fact that I don’t even have PhotoFilter any more so I just have to make them from memory. What fun… argh.

I think that I’m sort-of, maybe, possibly starting to get object-oriented programming more. My last exam results wouldn’t reflect that but I felt much more comfortable with the last programming project we did (we had to make a program that generated Magic square solutions). I’m not quite as frightened by having to write my code in different files and classes now which is fantastic. I was vehemently against it at first but I sort of see the good side of it now, although I still strongly prefer coding like I would write a paper - from beginning to end, top to bottom, each part in sequence of it’s use. I realize though that for some problems it is indeed easier to code with classes and such now, but don’t tell my boyfriend that. ;) I lost count of the number of times I would argue and whine about object-oriented programming to him…

I still would really like to have a photo-blog day but I haven’t figured out a good day to do it. I’d like to do it on a sunny, warm day but the weather here has decided that it’s simply not ready for spring yet and we actually had a possibility of snow today. Talk about a load of utter crap - I hate winter.

I’ve been screwing with a possible new layout for this blog. I know that I’ve really not had this one up long, but it’s a bit too bland for my taste. Not to mention that I don’t think I’ll ever get around to fixing the navigation issues in IE6 (which I wish to stab and throw down a flight of stairs) so it’s almost better for me to just make a new layout that just works and fixes both issues at once. It’s grungy but I like that type of design. We’ll see how it plays out.

As an attempt to help me blog more often, I’ve got a short list of blog ideas that I hope to write about very soon. So hopefully I’ll be writing again in less than a month… har har.

By the way, thanks for all the comments on my last post - it was very nice of you all :)

A Happy Third

Today was David and I’s three year anniversary-type thing, as I’ve referred to it today. Time flies, doesn’t it? Anyways, because of our busy schedules, the only special, extraordinary thing that we managed to do today was watch V for Vendetta. It was good, as always.

I suppose there were other things about today that were more than just extraordinary. For instance, the fact that I spent about an hour in a cemetery after sunset to take a staff photo with the rest of my coworkers. It sounds morbid, really, until you understand that the theme of this year’s yearbook was “the dash” and so it was rather fitting to take our staff photo in a cemetery among the graves. Or at least that was what it was supposed to be about, but really it was just damn cold and we were standing on dead people. Or something. Anyway, it was creepy to be in a cemetery in the dark among all the graves. I’m an easily startled person and so I was wary that someone would decide it would be hilarious to come up behind me quickly and make me scream in terror but luckily nobody knew about this particular impairment of mine. I’m even startled when I open a door and someone happens to be standing in the hallway behind it, even when I know that they’re there. I’m sure the photo will turn out great and it is really rather unique but it will take some explaining and I’m not sure that everyone will get it. I’m not even sure I do, yet.

I’ve made up a list of what I want to accomplish here and I hope it will help me stay on track and get motivated to do something as far as new stuff goes. I won’t tell you what’s on the list, but I think it will be useful stuff. We’ll just have to see how things go because I have three exams next week and I plan on studying a whole lot. I also have a C# program due on Friday that I really need to get moving on but I just haven’t had that much time. I really can’t wait until spring break.

Of Short Weekends

This weekend has seemed nothing but short. I’ve read two chapters of my geology book, done two online quizzes and leveled up only once in Perfect World. Hmm. I did also watch a Nova documentary on ape intelligence with David which was pretty good. (We’re both so nerdy that we watch documentaries for fun… har har.) I’m dead tired right now but I’m in no mood to go to sleep, and I’m waiting for an episode of House M.D to load, so I’m blogging.

Does anyone else enjoy House M.D? I’m rather addicted - I’ve been watching all the episodes online. I only started watching at the beginning of season 4 and so it’s rather interesting to start back at season 1 and see how the characters progress and change. I really want House to hook up with Cameron…

In other news, 2 new brush sets are up entitled “Fireworks” and “Tiny Stars”. I dug out some photographs that I’d taken at a local lake of an Independence Day fireworks display for the fireworks set and I’d just doodled around for the tiny stars set. Have fun.

Guitar Hero

I’ve bought Guitar Hero for the Wii and I’ve been having lots of fun with it. I’m not very good at it so far (previously I had only played at friend’s houses) but I have improved very much in the short time I’ve had it. David and I are currently taking turns playing in his dorm room right now. He can play on expert but I’m still on medium. I’ll have to practice up so that I can beat him.

I’m taking the transition back to college life a bit hard. I just have to keep reminding myself that although it’s nice to visit home, living out of the house has great perks. It’s not so bad since I have David around to keep me company when I get down. That’s why we’re rocking out on Guitar Hero right now, speaking of which.

Perfect World is becoming addicting. I’m currently level 21 and I hope to level up again tomorrow if I can manage to keep from dying. You lose 5% EXP every time you die, and although that’s not a very high rate compared to some other games, it’s still EXP lost. I’m doing a lot of quests and that makes it easier to level - I love the EXP rewards. If anyone actually plays besides me, I might be able to get you a place in my sister’s guild called Euphoria. She’s looking for new members. I also need someone to help me with my level 19 FB quest, if anyone’s interested.

Ick, I guess you could call me blog-orexic lately because of the fact I hardly blog. It’s not really that I don’t want to, but just that I don’t really think about doing it like I used to. It used to be like, “oh wow, I’ve got to blog about this later!”. Now exciting things happen but I hardly write about any of it. I hardly even posted about my fantastic trip to Chicago.

My best friend (Wrylie) is out in California visiting some relatives and we all miss her very dearly. So a friend (Jake) and my sister (Candace) all went to random places around town with a sign we’d made that said, “Come home Wrylie!” We went to all the places that Wrylie hangs around and took pictures of us holding the signs and then posted them on Facebook. I really need to get a Flickr account to post all these things on as well, but it’s just not been my top priority. Anyways, Wrylie really loved the photos and she’ll be back on the 8th of August. Wonderful :) Jake, Candace and I also stopped by the famous Hooters while we were out. The food was great, as usual, and we even got the fries free because it took them 30 minutes to get them to us. Jake decided it’d be funny to take a menu and a jar of hot sauce, so now Jake has some Hooters souvenirs. I can’t get over how funny it is that Jake now has a Hooters menu in his basement.

David and I have been hanging out a lot lately, not that I’m complaining. Yesterday we played lots of Super Smash Brothers (SSB). I even came within 50% damage of beating him, but alas: no. I did beat his brother, Steve, though. That was a really glorious victory. Random SSB fact: my favorite character is Kirby.

I’ve been messing around with At0mica a lot lately, of course none of it is stuff anyone would see as I have yet to deal with putting any of it up yet. I’m desperately trying to make a new layout. I had one made and then… I decided I didn’t like how I’d made up the navigation, so I abandoned it. It’s a really nice layout, however, so to at least get something out of it I may sell it… or put it up for a free Wordpress theme or something. Of course, being a poor college student now, any money is nice. We’ll see. I just can’t ever find something I really like for a layout anymore, I guess maybe I hold my standards too high for my layouts on At0mica nowadays. Or something. Who knows?

I have stuff to work on so I’ll cut this short. At least this is a post, right? :)
