Something New

My sister is an amazing artist and is looking into attending a big-name art school in California next year. She mentioned to me the other day that she has been showing representatives from the school her work through DeviantArt. That’s all fine and good, I suppose, but being a person who hates being “unprofessional” (the reason why being part of Future Business Leaders of America in high school was so alluring to me), I offered to make her a real online portfolio with her own domain name. It’s going to be an interesting experience. She has all the art skills and I have the coding skills, and we’re going to have to put them together for this because it won’t be any good as an art portfolio if she just has me design it. I’m still trying to completely figure out how this is going to work. I don’t mean any offense, but those outside the realm of Web design have little idea about how to design for the Web. I’ve struggled with this in the past with other clients and I’ve became very frustrated when they proclaim such things as, “the text doesn’t wrap the same way as in this magazine!” (Well, of course it doesn’t, because on the Web nothing like that is embedded unless it’s in an image. Typically, this person was very familiar with print design but not with Web design.)

I guess I’m getting off topic. I think what I’ll end up doing is coding a blank template and let her “decorate” it. I’m quite sure the people from the art school will be impressed that she has her own Web site and domain for her portfolio. I’m more excited about it than she is, probably.

PS: No, my sister is not my “client”, I’m doing it for free because I’m nice like that. Plus, it’s going to be fun - and yet another thing to add to my own portfolio that is in desperate need of updating…

Mah Blogosphere

So the problem with this “Blog 365″ business is that I run out of things to talk about. I’m all out of ideas. However, I’ll try to ramble about and see if anything of interest comes out.

I don’t think that I’ve mentioned that I’m going to make an attempt at getting more “involved” in the blogosphere. You know, allowing myself to be coerced into forming more friendships with people that I know from a distance but not yet anything more. I guess it takes a lot to be taken outside of my shell, but I’m going to make an effort here. I’m sure that through the Quilting Bee that won’t be so hard.

Still working on the template, although I’ve made significant leeway…

I say … and you think … ?

1. Mist :: Myst.
2. Eating :: Bacon.
3. Beacon :: Lighthouse.
4. Speaker :: Standing in the front of the room for public speaking…
5. Episodes :: Television.
6. Conference :: Those humongous, long tables and uncomfortable chairs in a stuffy office building
7. Sneak attack :: Tickling.
8. Medic :: Nuns.
9. Web :: 2.0. Shiny!
10. 2008 :: New Year!

Crappy Review

I got the worst review for At0mica.net from Dorkie Reviews. I’m extremly angry about it. Click here to view it. She said my site was unoriginal and that I stole 75% of my graphics from other people, which as everyone knows, is total BS. I make all of my graphics, because I like being able to do things myself. As for my new layout, I wanted to try something new and modern. How many other personal/resource sites do you see with the layout that is now on At0mica?? I know I haven’t seen any. Grr.. anyway.. enough of that.

Anyone ever read the Count of Monte Cristo? I’m reading it in Honors English, and for once, I’m enjoying the book that we’re reading. Its awesome!

The basketball game sucked. That’s all that needs to be said about that.

I think I’m going to get a good score on my paper, David read it and said he liked it. He had a lot of suggestions, but they were good ones. His paper was great, he compared ‘The Power of One’ to different types of instruments and music and how they all have their place. Great, original idea.

I’m getting pretty good at DDR. I’ve advanced off Beginner mode, I’m so proud ^^;; I just started playing right after we got the game and mat on Christmas, so I guess I’m doing okay. I really enjoy it, too. Does anybody else play?? I’m starting to get addicted.

Concert band - The Beginning

Concert band started today. Most of it went wayyy over my head, Stahly has a much different style of music teaching than did Reiman. I’ll have to do a lot of practicing, but I’m determined to nail this music. As I did last year :)

What World Web?
1. How long do you think you’ll be blogging? Ionno, probably a long time.
2. When do you think you will stop making friends with strangers? Never. lol.
3. What kind of skills have you picked up from the internet? HTML, graphic design, net talk (lol), and some japanese.
4. How long do you think you’ll get down with Daily Dirt? As long as I’m still blogging.
5. 10 years from now, how do you think the internet will look like? A giant pile of cyber crap.

We have to write a paper on A Tale of Two Cities, as if that doesn’t suck. That was one of the worst books ever. Well, not really the plot, I think that was good actually, but more the style of writing. Dicken’s wordiness is so boring to me, I mean, a half page for one sentence, come on. What did he expect people to think? Seriously…

Sorry that I didn’t blog yesterday, but it was for a legit reason! A new layout for At0mica.net! Isn’t it awesome?!?! I’m obsessed with Gwen Stefani’s What You Waiting For?. That is one of the best songs ever.

I’ve got to go, its April’s turn on the computer :-/
