Of Lazy Saturdays

I’ve finished up that C# program I mentioned in my last post. It didn’t end up being so hard after all. Two while loops and a few if/else statements later and it was finished. One down, three more to go. Oh my.

I’m officially to the Forest Temple in Twilight Princess. It admittedly took me awhile to get used to how the game works and there were a few points where I was in the right place and trying the right things, but I just wasn’t doing them in exactly the right way for it to work. For example, when I was supposed to sneak up on the villagers talking about the shield, I was creeping up to listen, but just not close enough. It took me forever to realize that by sneaking closer I could listen to more of the conversation. I initially assumed I was just in the wrong place or something. At this rate, who knows how long it will take me to get through the first temple… haha

The Key of C#

This isn’t really about music, but I felt that the title of the textbook for my C# programming class was rather clever: Programming in the Key of C#. Anyways, we’ve got four programs to write as a review of what we did last semester in software design (CIS 200). I’ve just had to write a program that takes a number, figures out if it’s prime or not, and if it isn’t, then it finds the prime factorization of the number. It seemed rather easy until I tried to do it and halfway through I realized the reason I was struggling was because I had read the instructions wrong. I guess it was a bad idea to try not to procrastinate…

I’ve spent a lot of time playing Twilight Princess today as well as Guitar Hero III, but I’m not done yet, the night is still young.

Of Addicting Games

I’m thinking I’m going to have to add a category called “Gaming” or “Games” because that seems to be all I’ve been blogging about and doing lately. Hmm. Anyways, I just made it to level 23 on Perfect World and I’m quite proud of myself. Even after dying several times and dealing with a major deficit in my health points and health regeneration rates, I’ve slowly recovered and I’m doing fairly well. (You see, at the beginning, I had no idea what to do with my skill points and instead put them in places that they shouldn’t have been; it seemed logical at the time to just spread the skill points out to all the areas instead of focusing on one or two.)

Classes went fairly well today except for the fact it was freezing cold - 25 degrees Fahrenheit - and my classes were across campus from my dorm. Tomorrow I have Psychology and Data/Program Structures so we shall see how they go. I’ve been told Psychology is a fun (and easy!) course so I’m rather looking forward to it. We’ve already been assigned homework in programming and so I’m a little wary of the class if it’s starting out so strong. I guess it’s my major so I should have been expecting that, though. I’ve just found myself struggling with programming for whatever reason and I get quite frustrated.

I realize that nobody is even reading these posts because I have yet to move everything from here over to At0mica.net, but I just haven’t had the time… unfortunately.

Classes, Already?

Tomorrow my classes start up again. I have 9:30 Archaeology and 1:05 Macroeconomics. I also have to go to work at 2:30. Argh. To be back at school again…

In other news, Craig has let me borrow his copy of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It’s pretty fun so far, but I’m not very far in at all. I’m still at the beginning village and I haven’t had much time to spend on it yet. I’m really looking forward to playing through it, though. I loved Ocarina of Time, and to a lesser extent Majora’s Mask, so this is very exciting. I also got to play Windwaker on David’s GameCube and that wasn’t bad. Anyways, it’s just going to be interesting to see how they tied in the Wii’s capabilities with the game. Should be fun!

Guitar Hero

I’ve bought Guitar Hero for the Wii and I’ve been having lots of fun with it. I’m not very good at it so far (previously I had only played at friend’s houses) but I have improved very much in the short time I’ve had it. David and I are currently taking turns playing in his dorm room right now. He can play on expert but I’m still on medium. I’ll have to practice up so that I can beat him.

I’m taking the transition back to college life a bit hard. I just have to keep reminding myself that although it’s nice to visit home, living out of the house has great perks. It’s not so bad since I have David around to keep me company when I get down. That’s why we’re rocking out on Guitar Hero right now, speaking of which.

Perfect World is becoming addicting. I’m currently level 21 and I hope to level up again tomorrow if I can manage to keep from dying. You lose 5% EXP every time you die, and although that’s not a very high rate compared to some other games, it’s still EXP lost. I’m doing a lot of quests and that makes it easier to level - I love the EXP rewards. If anyone actually plays besides me, I might be able to get you a place in my sister’s guild called Euphoria. She’s looking for new members. I also need someone to help me with my level 19 FB quest, if anyone’s interested.
